## About the role

Brain Co. is hiring an exceptional, business-minded deal lawyer to be our first in-house attorney and build our Legal foundations. You will work alongside key partners throughout the company — including Sales, Business Development, Finance, and the executive team — to close first-of-kind strategic partnerships and high-value deals. You’ll work on a wide variety of deal types, many of which open new routes to market for Brain Co. across government, regulated industries, and major enterprises.

## What they're looking for

- J.D. and active bar membership (California admission or eligibility to waive in strongly preferred)
- 5-8 years of legal experience, with a combination of large law firm and in-house experience at a tech company
- Strong background negotiating complex commercial contracts, preferably in SaaS, AI, or enterprise software, including a track record of leading the negotiation of major deals with C-level execs
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, able to partner with both legal and non-legal stakeholders and translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance
- A proactive mindset and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced startup environment
- Sound judgement and a pragmatic approach — protective of the company’s interests without being an obstacle to getting deals done
