## About the role

You'll be the physicist in the room when the machine fires. You'll design shot campaigns, define what we're trying to learn from each one, and make the real-time calls that keep an experimental program moving. This is a hands-on experimental role — you'll be on the floor during commissioning and shots, not just interpreting results after the fact. You'll work closely with computational and diagnostics teams, but the buck stops with you on whether an experiment is ready to fire and what it means once it has.

## What they're looking for

- Demonstrated experience designing and executing experimental campaigns, not just analyzing existing data
- Strong understanding of plasma physics, pulsed-power systems, or nuclear effects testing
- Ability to make sound technical decisions under time pressure during live experimental operations
- Strong communication skills across engineering, physics, and operations teams
- PhD in Physics, Plasma Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related field. Exceptional Master's candidates with relevant experience will be considered
- Experience with Z-pinch, MagLIF, dense plasma focus, or other pulsed-power fusion concepts
