## What they're looking for

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 4+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production backend services. [Less for PhD, Master's]
- Strong experience building backend services and REST APIs using a modern web framework such as Java (Spring Boot), Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or similar
- Deep experience with relational databases, including authoring complex SQL and performing safe schema migrations against production systems
- Experience designing REST API contracts, including versioning and backwards compatibility, and documenting them with OpenAPI or a similar specification
- Working proficiency with TypeScript and React — comfortable shipping customer-facing features through a modern frontend without requiring a frontend specialist to finish the work
