## About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer at Juniper Square, you are a technical leader - setting technical direction, driving architectural decisions, and raising engineering quality across your team. This is a player-coach role: you lead through code and architecture, not just direction.

## What they're looking for

- 12+ years of experience in backend and/or full-stack software engineering, with a clear trajectory of increasing technical leadership, architectural responsibility, and mentorship
- A portfolio of shipped production systems - be ready to walk through specific technical decisions you personally made and code you personally wrote, this is not a role for someone whose primary contribution has been directing others
- Deep expertise in at least one server-side language (Python preferred, Node/TS, Java, C++, C#, or similar) and strong proficiency building production-grade backend services
- Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React preferred) and comfort working full-stack when the problem calls for it
- Experience with relational/NoSQL databases, including schema design, performance tuning, and data modeling
- Experience building and operating cloud-native systems using AWS (or equivalent), Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code
