## About the role

Loop's systems team owns the layer everything else runs on. Volume through our platform is growing faster than the current architecture was designed for, and closing that gap is the job. You will work close to the code while thinking deeply about scalability and performance, spending your time on system design, database and runtime performance, and observability. You will need to understand how and why our product features work, without necessarily building new ones yourself.

## What they're looking for

- Own observability for the systems that carry the most load. Improve and expand our performance monitoring, which lets us catch bottlenecks before they turn into incidents
- Find and eliminate the bottlenecks slowing the platform down today, taking on the hardest performance problems and production incidents directly and turning them into durable fixes rather than patches
- Work in the SF office 4+ days a week
- A track record of performance and scaling work on production systems. You have been somewhere where the load grew significantly, and you can explain what broke, how you found it, and what you changed
- Strong written communication and the ability to influence architecture decisions on teams you do not own
- Experience leading a large-scale architecture migration, or with high-throughput data or workflow systems, is a plus alongside depth in one of the areas above
