## About the role

We are hiring a Staff Security Engineer to act as the primary security partner for the Walrus team, providing deep architectural guidance and embedding security practices throughout the development lifecycle, starting from the design phase. Lead security assessments for new Walrus features while also contributing to security initiatives across the broader Mysten ecosystem, identifying systemic risks and providing actionable remediation plans for complex architectural challenges.

## What they're looking for

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of industry experience in security engineering, with a proven track record of operating at a Staff (E6) level or equivalent
- Extensive experience as a security generalist, capable of navigating infrastructure, application, and cryptographic security domains
- Strong proficiency in building, deploying, and managing automated security tooling, demonstrated history of using AI/ML or advanced static/dynamic analysis to improve security outcomes at scale
- Deep expertise in collaborating with engineering teams during the design phase to proactively identify and mitigate high-risk design flaws
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence technical direction and lead cross-functional security initiatives
