About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Administrator to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong database management background combined with a deep understanding of how databases really work. As a Database Administrator, you will not only mentor and guide our engineers but also participate in architectural and key decision-making forums regarding our databases, ensuring a focus is always on the reliability of our systems and centred on positive customer experience. - Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent practical experience
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in a Database Administration or related role with at least 2 of those years working in a cloud database environment
- Cloud Technologies: Good knowledge and understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Database Technologies: Progressive experience with boxed databases (e.g. SQL Server and PostgreSQL) together with hands-on experience of cloud database management (e.g. Azure SQL Database, Amazon Aurora, GCP Cloud SQL)
- Architectural Design: Proven experience in providing oversight, with a strong ability to make informed decisions that drive system performance and scalability
- Scripting: Strong SQL skills (including TSQL and PL/pgSQL) together with proficiency in languages such as PowerShell and Python
