About the role
We are seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will independently deliver features and improvements to healthcare technology that powers prior authorization for health plans covering 15+ million members. You'll own story-sized work from design through deployment — decomposing problems, coordinating dependencies, and shipping reliable software with minimal oversight. You'll partner with your squad, product, and QA to build systems that healthcare practitioners rely on daily.
What they're looking for
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience demonstrating independent delivery and increasing ownership
- Backend development experience using Java or Groovy, including writing and maintaining production services
- Experience building web applications with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with databases (MongoDB or similar NoSQL stores preferred), including basic schema design and query writing
- Demonstrated ability to independently own story-sized work — decomposing into tasks, implementing, testing, and shipping without daily direction
- Familiarity with event-driven systems or messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar) at a working level
