About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer Intern to join us to continue to build the system that powers Fortnite. You'll work on the team responsible for things like running FNCS tournaments, storing player cosmetics and Sprites, and persisting LEGO Fortnite worlds. You will be given a feature to own as part of our development cycle, and be integrated in the day-to-day of the team.

What they're looking for

  • Proficiency in Java or similar object-oriented programming language
  • Experience with AI-assisted coding tools, such as Claude code
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide task updates in a remote-first team environment
  • Willingness to ask questions, seek guidance, and learn from feedback
  • Foundational analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, is preferred
