About Fuse

Fuse Energy is building the future of energy with cheaper tariffs, better service, and greener goals. Switch to Fuse Energy today. Backed by Accel.

About the role

As a Laser Engineer, you'll design, build, and maintain the laser systems that trigger and diagnose Fuse's pulsed-power machines at our San Leandro facility. This is hands-on work: aligning and maintaining precision optical systems, developing laser triggering and diagnostic capabilities for high-energy-density experiments, and troubleshooting real hardware on a fast-moving test schedule.

What they're looking for

  • Hands-on experience designing, building, or maintaining laser systems in a research or industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of optics, laser physics, and precision alignment techniques
  • Experience working directly with high-power laser or optical hardware in a lab or test environment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-moving experimental environment
  • Experience with laser triggering or diagnostics for pulsed-power, fusion, or high-energy-density physics experiments
  • Experience with high-power optical systems and laser-safety programs
More about this role

We are building one of the most potentially consequential companies of the century. Our mission is to accelerate the world's transition to fusion energy while safeguarding humankind. This is not a normal company. This is not a normal job. We are committed for the long term to win.
