About the role

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems.

What they're looking for

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 9 years of years of experience in Electrical, Mechanical/Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), or controls experience in an industrial/commercial environment
  • 3 years of experience in a data center or facilities environment
  • Experience managing incident response, troubleshooting, or emergency operations for critical facility infrastructure

  • Drive the continuous improvement and certification of critical equipment operations, partnering with third-party vendors to validate and optimize site-level procedures.
  • Advocate for global compliance initiatives, analyzing cross-regional data and holding external partners accountable to Google's rigorous design standards and project schedules.
  • Oversee critical facility operations and incident response protocols, proactively mitigating operational risks and directing root-cause analyses for any site excursions.
  • Direct third-party facility operations to ensure strict adherence to Google's global maintenance programs, actively identifying opportunities to elevate baseline policies.
  • Formulate and execute site-level strategies to optimize operational expenditure (OpEx), maximize infrastructure efficiency, and advance Google's environmental sustainability goals.
