Estate planning is a field where there is an iceberg of underlying complexity. A single family might have a dozen trusts, several entities holding assets across them, beneficiaries and trustees who appear in multiple structures but have conditional appointments, and provisions that only take effect under conditions years away. Advisors currently hold that picture together with documents and institutional memory – and human memory is highly fallible.
