About Radiant

Radiant builds Kaleidos, a portable, factory-built nuclear microreactor that delivers a megawatt of clean power anywhere it is needed. Backed by a16z, Felicis and USV.

About the role

Radiant is seeking a driven Senior Thermal Modeling & Analysis Engineer to own high-fidelity CFD and thermal modeling for the Kaleidos microreactor. You will analyze heat generation and transport, high-temperature gas flow, and thermal interactions across reactor systems, cooling systems, shielding, and surrounding hardware under steady-state, transient, and off-normal conditions.

What they're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, nuclear engineering, physics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant thermal, CFD, or thermal-fluid analysis experience
  • Extensive experience with STAR-CCM+, Ansys Fluent, or comparable CFD software
  • Strong foundation in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, turbulence modeling, and numerical methods
  • Experience performing steady-state and transient thermal-fluid analyses
  • Experience with model verification, sensitivity studies, and validation or test correlation
More about this role

Radiant is an El Segundo, CA-based startup building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to 5 years without refueling. Portable nuclear power with rapid-deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases. Radiant’s unique, practical approach to nuclear development leverages modern software engineering to rapidly deliver safe, factory-built microreactors that use existing, well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory this summer, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.
