About the role
Rain is building out its branded payments line of business, starting with stored value. We're looking for a BD and Strategy Director to own the growth of this opportunity end to end — from identifying and closing the right partners, to shaping the go-to-market motion, to working hand-in-hand with product and engineering to make sure what we sell is what we can ship. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Payments.
What they're looking for
- 8+ years of experience in financial services and branded payments, with GTM and strategy work in financial services, payments, or technology preferred
- Intellectual curiosity, commercial judgment, and a bias toward action
- A track record in business development or partnerships, ideally with direct exposure to deal-making and commercial negotiation
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product and Engineering — you can speak both the commercial and technical language and translate between them
- Demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic level: setting goals, prioritizing among competing opportunities, and building a plan where the market or product hasn't been fully defined yet
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal — you'll be representing this business both internally and externally
