About Scotch

Run your liquor store smarter with Scotch. Fast POS, real-time inventory, and built-in eCommerce — all in one system, designed exclusively for liquor retailers. Backed by Lerer Hippeau.

About the role

Scotch is building the next-generation operating system for beverage alcohol retailers — combining POS, payments, back office, and e-commerce into a platform purpose-built for liquor stores. We’re modernizing one of the oldest industries in the world: the $1.6T beverage alcohol market. Our platform helps retailers run more efficiently through streamlined payments, inventory management, reporting, and day-to-day operations. Found on 1752vc Careers, the job board for startup and VC roles.

What they're looking for

  • 6+ years in QA or software engineering in test, including 2+ years as the senior or lead quality owner for a shipping product
  • A track record of building test automation from scratch, not just maintaining someone else's suite
  • Strong coding skills in Kotlin, Java, Ruby, TypeScript, or Python. You write test code that engineers are happy to review
  • Hands-on experience with modern frameworks (Espresso, Maestro, Appium, Playwright, Cypress, or similar) and running them in CI
  • Experience testing APIs, data integrity, and integrations between systems
  • Sound judgment about risk: you know when a bug should block a release and when it shouldn't, and you can explain why

Forbes has recognized Scotch as a leader in liquor retail tech. We closed a $20M Series A in 2026 off 500%+ YoY growth and $1B+ in processed payment volume.

  • Own the QA strategy for the POS app, back office, and payments, deciding what gets automated, what gets tested by hand, and what blocks a release.
  • Build and maintain automated test suites across layers: unit and integration coverage alongside engineers, E2E tests for the back office (Playwright or similar), and API and contract tests between the POS and back...
