About the role
An affiliate of Colossal is looking for a talented research associate in cell biology with an interest in the derivation, characterization, and gene editing in non-model mammalian organisms. You will work closely with other lab team members in efforts to innovate on protocols of genome editing, reprogramming and lineage differentiation using cutting edge technologies.
What they're looking for
- Experience in primary cell line derivation, culture optimization and cryopreservation
- Experience with electroporation and transfection to maximize gene delivery and viability
- Experience immunostaining cells for flow cytometry and fluorescent microscopy
- Exceptional aseptic technique as antibiotic free cultures are standard
- Organized and comfortable multi-tasking to deliver on concurrent projects on time
- Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as creative problem-solving skills

- Derive and characterize stable cell lines from primary tissues
- Microdissection skills for cell line derivations
- Test novel cell culture conditions and delivery methods to optimize gene editing
- Expand clonal cell lines for cryopreservation, genotyping and QC assays
- Work with team members to interrogate targeting, genotyping and QC workflows
- Assist with making edited cell lines that meet quality control criteria for downstream SCNT
- Schedule, analyze and execute experiments to deliver on project milestones
- Attend lab meetings, prepares reports and presentations on the progress of projects
