About Tutor Intelligence

Tutor builds generally capable robots and puts them to work. Delivered in days not years, from $14 an hour. Backed by AI Grant and USV.

About the role

Our hardware engineers design, build, and test robots in the same building, often in the same afternoon. That only works when the shop works: the part is where the system says it is, the tool is on the wall, and this morning's delivery is already in the building and unpacked, and the space is clean. What they're looking for

  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Hands-on. You would rather build the shelf and label the bins today than write a plan for it
  • Warm and direct. You assume good intent, and you can tell a busy engineer their bench has slipped in a way that feels like help
  • A systems builder who knows the difference between a system people use and one they work around
  • Comfortable with hand and power tools, and able to tell a fastener, a connector, and a piece of stock apart
  • Able to lift 40+ lbs, operate a pallet stacker, and work around robots and machine tools
More about this role

We believe robots will be the next chapter in making physical labor safer and more affordable. But, nearly nine out of ten American factories and warehouses don’t have a single robot. Tutor Intelligence is changing that.

We build robots that go straight into real factories and warehouses, to do real work, with real impact. Our robot Cassie does back-breaking work, moving boxes, pallets, and bulk goods for family-owned manufacturers to some of the largest brands in the world. Our robot Sonny does handwork, using two arms to achieve human-like dexterity in picking and packing. Every robot learns on the job, and each one we deploy makes the next one more capable, more affordable, and faster to put to work.

Founded at MIT and headquartered in Watertown, MA, we do it all in-house: the robotics hardware, the machine learning, and the field deployment and service. We’re a team of researchers, engineers, technicians, operators, and sellers who love building things and solving hard problems.

Our mission is grand: robots everywhere, for the common good, raising the standard of living across North America, and then the world.

Our hardware engineers design, build, and test robots in the same...
